Arctic pitching

The 2nd Arctic Film Pitching will be hosted by The 3rd Arctic Countries Film Festival ARCTIC OPEN on 6-7 December 2019 in Arkhangelsk.

The festival welcomes submissions from screen writers, directors and producers in the Russian language. Themes and locations: Russian North, the Arctic, Arkhangelsk Province. Submissions and participation are free.

Главный приз Питчинга – 100 000 рублей на реализацию проекта от Национального фонда поддержки правообладателей. 150 000 рублей от министерства культуры Архангельской области. Призовой фонд Питчинга также включает техническую поддержку в съемках от компании Canon и другие призы от партнеров и экспертов Питчинга.

Shortlisted candidates are offerred free travel by train (economy class), accommodation and catering throughout the training programme. Payment of travel costs depends on itinerary. Candidates will have access to all events on ARCTIC OPEN programme, including the award ceremony on 8 December 2019 at Lomonosov Drama Theatre.

DIRECTOR AT RUSSIAN FILMMAKERS ASSOCIATION’S YOUTH CENTRE

I am pleased to welcome the participants of the 2nd Arctic Film Pitching. It’s the second time the Pitching opens its doors as part of the Arctic Countries Film Festival ARCTIC OPEN, designed to promote filmmaking here in the Russian North and select best feature and non-feature films about the Russian Arctic. Last year’s judges noted the high professional level of all competing films and I am convinced that this year’s pitching will be no less productive and fruitful of professionally made projects that will see their future with the help of the producers on the judging panel. The pitch competition has as important mission – to promote cinematography in Arkhangelsk Oblast. With undisturbed nature and unique cultural heritage, Arkhangelsk is exactly the location for making films. Many of us remember films that used its landscape as their setting – Mikhailo Lomonosov, Finist – Yasny Sokol (Finist, Eagle of Stars), Rossiya Molodaya (Russia Young), Torpedonostsy (The Torpedo Carriers), Belye nochi pochtaliona Alexeia Tryapitsyna (The Postman’s White Nights) and Rasputin.

As organizers of this pitch competition, we want it to make visible the films that reflect the spirit of the land of Pomors.
